The Alan Parsons Project is one of those bands that charted - and charted numerous times - back in the late 70s and the 80s, but here in the States their music today seems all but forgotten except by those in the know. This is an absorbing, fascinating progression of albums, and I spent much of yesterday and last night sifting through it. The Alan Parsons Project were a British progressive rock band, active between 1975 and 1990, consisting of Eric Woolfson and Alan Parsons surrounded by a varying number of session musicians and some relatively consistent band members such as guitarist Ian Bairnson, bassist and vocalist David Paton, drummer Stuart Elliott and vocalist Lenny Zakatek. This was the final Alan Parsons Project studio album. During the writing of what would have been the followup, Eric Woolfson turned the album into the rock opera eventually released as Freudiana in 1990. Alan Parsons continued as a solo artist in 1993 with Try Anything Once, an album which completes the musical evolution that started with this.
